Shelley Hainer, Founder, Bamboo Jacket ®

Shelley founded Bamboo Jacket in 2008. Her early training was in ballet, followed by drama studies, including ‘method’ and ‘avant-garde,’ more dance forms, movement science, exercise physiology, somatic education, and dynamic body-mind disciplines. Shelley's fascination is with the “art and science of being” as it evolved to include meditation and the dynamic of group and community with Bamboo Jacket®.

Shelley has enjoyed developing connections in all aspects of life -- as a businesswoman, artist, and entrepreneur -- as Executive Search Consultant with Korn/Ferry International; Community Affairs Director at Waterside Plaza; Curator, Nexus Gallery Poetry Series; and Producer, “Life In Motion” at New York University – 1989, and “De-stressing the Workplace, Movement Techniques for Modern Times” at The Energy Center, NYC – 1988. Both conferences were groundbreaking for professionals in the field of somatic education. Shelley danced with Wendy Osserman Dance Company and acted with New York City Theater Workshop for Students and the Housewives Cantata.

Shelley studied at the High School of Performing Arts in Drama prior to earning a BA/Drama at Kenyon College, MS/Exercise Physiology at Queens College, NYC, and a Certification/Anti-Gymnastics at Therese Bertherat in Paris, France. Additional years of study were completed with Carola Speads, meditation at The School of Practical Philosophy, Sally Kempton, Don Kolmar, Insight Meditation Center and Society, and Ruth Denison, Vipassana Teacher. Shelley is a member of The Field and a 2010 Artward Bound recipient. She affiliated with The Sensory Awareness Foundation in 2015.

Shelley is pleased to offer Bamboo Jacket® Banquet, Play Shops, and Programs.
